The collapse of the Soviet Union ended one of the most powerful and long-lasting non-democratic revolutionary regimes in modern history, but the end of Soviet-style revolution has not meant the end of revolution altogether. Religious fundamentalist, extremist nationalist, and democratic revolutions have occurred in various parts of the world since the Cold War.
